Drinks and appetizers all in one! Our Roasted Red Bell Pepper Strips and fresh basil deliver a delicious twist on a classic gin and tonic that is sure to have you coming back for another round.


Makes 1 serving 1x 2x 4x
  • 2 Roasted Red Bell Pepper Strips
  • 2 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup*
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1 lime juiced
  • Ice
  • Tonic water to fill
  • Basil Sprigs to garnish


  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the Mezzetta® Roasted Red Bell Pepper Strips and basil leaves until they begin to liquify.
  2. Add the simple syrup, gin and lime juice and fill with ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds and strain into a tall glass filled with ice.
  3. Add tonic water to fill and garnish with a bell pepper strip and sprig of fresh basil.
  4. Enjoy!

Chef's Note

*To make simple syrup, combine ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water in a small sauce pot and bring to a boil. Boil until sugar has dissolved, remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
