They’re the perfect entertaining snack for socially distanced gatherings or larger events. They have all the sophistication of an elaborate charcuterie board, but with the convenience of finger food and canapés. These adorable hand-held cones, filled-to-the brim with delicious cheeses, assorted salami, spiced nuts and artisan crackers are a great way to adapt to the times. You can get creative with whatever ingredients you choose to add to these, whether they be sweet or savory!

 

As for the cone: Paper cones can be purchased online, or you can serve these in glass mason jars to eliminate waste. We also want to show you a way to make these beautiful cones at home with just scrapbooking paper, a glue-stick, and a pair of scissors. They’re so easy to make and you can customize the color and pattern of your cones to fit the occasion.

 

Below are step-by-step instructions on how to make this trendy party appetizer at home!

Ingredients

Makes 12 cones 1x 2x 4x
  • 6 sheets of 12x12 inch decorative scrapbook paper
  • 1 glue stick
  • Charcuterie Cups
  • 24 Artisan flatbread crackers
  • 12 Grissini (Italian bread sticks)
  • 4 ounces flavored medium firm cheese, such as pepper jack or truffle cut into ½ inch cubes
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese cut into ½ inch cubes
  • A skewer of your favorite Mezzetta® Olives, Peppers and Pickled Vegetables
  • 4 ounces assorted salami
  • Roasted spiced nuts, such as almonds, pistachios or cashews

Instructions

To make the serving cones, fold the paper in half, bringing the bottom right corner up to the top left corner to form a triangle.

Cut the paper in half down the folded seam to create 2 triangles. Continue this process until you have 12 triangles total.

And some glue to one corner of the triangle. If you are looking at the triangle, you will be adding glue to the side of the paper that is on your table. Place one finger in the center of the bottom of the triangle and curl the paper bringing the glued corner to the top point of the triangle creating a cone.

Spread your glue stick all over the remaining paper and roll to complete your cone. Set the cone aside to dry for at least 10 minutes. Repeat this process until you have 12 cones total.

Begin filling each cone with 2 artisan flatbread crackers, 1 grissini, a few cubes of both cheeses, the skewer of your favorite Mezzetta® Olives, Peppers and Pickled Vegetables, a few folded slices of assorted salami, and some roasted spiced nuts.
