Italian Plum Tomato

Italian plum tomatoes from the San Marzano region of Italy come from south of Naples, near Mt. Vesuvius, where the volcanic soils, abundant sunshine, and breeze from the nearby ocean all lend to creating the perfect tomatoes for pasta sauce.

Pasta, as a base for soup, or for dipping bread

Profile

Plum tomatoes have a mild acidity but robust flavor, and are perfect for sauces due to their low moisture content. Used mostly in cooking, they can also be enjoyed fresh.

Calabrian chili

Calabrian chilis are native to the Calabrian region on the “toe” of Italy and are prominent in Italian cooking and beyond.

Fresh Garlic & Basil are staples of Italian pasta sauces. Being based in the San Francisco Bay Area allows us to source both of these ingredients from local family-owned farms.

Mellow cloves of garlic & sweet basil are blended with the finest extra virgin olive oil for a uniquely bright, fresh basil flavor and amazing aroma.

Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese

Only cheeses from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy can be called Parmigiano Reggiano, and ours is aged for 12 months before we add it to our pasta sauces.

Sharp, nutty and savory flavor, with a slightly granular texture

Profile

With a nutty rich flavor, this hard, granular Italian cheese blends perfectly with Italian plum tomatoes to create pasta sauces rich in flavor and with a creamy texture.

Truffle

Truffles grow best in a humid, colder climate - the ones we use at Mezzetta are wildly grown in Northern Italy and found beneath various tree species such as willow, poplar, hazelnut and oak.
